Like most living creatures, I’m a big fan of clean air, but it’s increasingly hard to find. There are many ways for us humans to minimize our negative effects on the environment, including making positive choices regarding our daily modes of transportation. Bike to Work Day is an event that promotes these kinds of choices, and hopefully brings them into the forefront of our collective consciousness.

With all of this in mind, I thought it was appropriate to make this piece both “clean” and “airy” — a simple visual metaphor for a more environmentally harmonious future. The graphic shows Chicago’s urban skyline being transformed into a more organic, vibrant path. I’m very pleased with the simplicity and overall feel of this piece, though maybe I should have illustrated a cooler looking bike.
